Description

The Indigenous Leadership Initiative (ILI) is seeking a talented Social Media Coordinator to help maintain a strong online presence for a suite of brands and campaigns that works to advance and support Indigenous-led conservation across Canada. Having recently taken over the leadership of the International Boreal Conservation Campaign and being the lead partner in the Land Needs Guardians campaign, the ILI has an online audience of over 500,000. ILI supports First Nations to assume their rights and responsibility in stewarding the lands, waters, and resources on their traditional territories.

Under the direction of the Lead Communications Strategist, the Social Media Coordinator would be responsible for helping maintain and manage the ILI, Boreal Conservation, and Land Needs Guardians social media accounts across multiple platforms. The Social Media Coordinator will help create social media content, be responsible for day-to-day community management tasks, report regularly on campaign and metric tracking, and assist as a part of the communications team on other projects as they arise.

We are looking for a contract worker that is enthusiastic and ready to jump into a well established and fast-paced advocacy campaign advancing exciting initiatives across the country. Ideally, candidates will have experience managing multiple social media accounts and brands, and be familiar with Indigenous-led conservation or have experience in Indigenous-related issues.

Job Responsibilities

Maintain social media presence of multiple brands by drafting engaging share text to accompany our news, image and video content, posting
Measure and report on metrics from across social media and the digital sphere, including web traffic and paid ad campaigns
Stay up-to-date with changes in all social platforms ensuring maximum effectiveness
Check socials, respond to messages, moderate comments, identify any relevant engagements
Help collect relevant news articles and mentions to amplify and share
Support in managing email newsletter management and content management platforms
Assist in keeping photo library up-to-date
Help maintain and make changes or additions to campaign websites

Requirements

Proven work experience as a social media coordinator
Experience in advocacy campaigns
Expertise in multiple social media platforms
In-depth knowledge of SEO, keyword research and Google Analytics
Ability to deliver creative content on social media
Familiarity with social media strategies and proactive ability to engage in new and exciting trends in social media
Excellent communication skills
Multitasking and analytical skills
Ability to work independently on day-to-day tasks but excel as part of a dispersed team
Reliable wifi connectivity
