JOB DETAILS
Work location: On site – Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Salary: $40.40 hourly for 30 to 40 hours per week

Terms of employment: Permanent employment, Full time

Employment conditions: Morning, Day

Start: Starts as soon as possible

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Languages: English

Education: College/CEGEP. Completion of a three-year college program in civil or construction engineering technology or several years of related experience.

Experience: 1 year

Work setting: Estimating

Specific Tasks/Responsibilities:
• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and costs for materials, labour, equipment, and subcontracts.
• Prepare pre-qualification submissions to present clients.
• Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements.
• Operate CADD and other computer software systems.
• Utilize estimating software and tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
• Prepare estimates for general expenses and overheads.
• Provide economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for proposed projects.
• Develop comprehensive project budgets and cost control systems.
• Create and submit estimate reports, quote sheets and bids forms.
• Utilize quantity take-off procedures.
• Advise on tendering procedures.
• Participate and analyze tenders, bid negotiations and recommend awards.
• Maintain organized records of estimates, bids, and project costs.
• Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems.
• Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Prepare and maintain directory of supplies and trade contractors.
• Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, clients, owners, contractors and subcontractors to understand project requirements, changes, and adjustments to cost estimates and to identify potential risks.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior estimators.

EXPERIENCE AND SPECIALIZATION
Computer and technology knowledge: Estimating packages, Take-off packages, Spreadsheet, AutoCAD, MS Project, MS Excel, MS Word, Quick Books, MS PowerPoint

Type of experience: Civil, Commercial and/or industrial construction, Industrial construction, Institutional construction, Residential construction, Contractors

Transportation/travel information: Public transportation is available
