Position Title: Construction Survey Technician (Solar & Roofing)

Hours: 30 hours per week
Wage: $32.00 per hour
About the Role
NS Roofer is seeking a detail-oriented Construction Survey Technician to support solar and roofing projects across Nova Scotia. The successful candidate will assist with site measurements, layout verification, data collection, and construction documentation to ensure accurate installation and project execution.
Key Responsibilities
1.Conduct on-site measurements and layout checks for solar and roofing projects.
2.Use surveying and measurement tools to verify dimensions, elevations, slopes, and site conditions.
3.Assist with field data collection, recording, and report preparation.
4.Read and interpret construction drawings, site plans, and specifications.
5.Support project teams with quantity checks, site verification, and progress documentation.
6.Identify and report discrepancies between site conditions and design plans.
7.Work closely with project managers, supervisors, roofers, and solar installation teams.
8.Follow all occupational health and safety requirements on active construction sites.
9.Travel to job sites as required throughout Nova Scotia.
Qualifications
1.1–2 years of experience in construction surveying, site measurement, construction layout, or a related field.
2.Diploma, certificate, or equivalent practical experience in surveying, geomatics, civil technology, construction technology, or a related discipline is preferred.
3.Experience with measuring tools, survey equipment, or construction layout instruments.
4.Ability to read and interpret drawings, site plans, and technical documents.
5.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
6.Good communication and organizational skills.
7.Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and on active job sites.
8.Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
9.Valid Nova Scotia driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Assets
1.Experience in roofing, solar installation, or construction project support.
2.Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GPS, or similar software/equipment.
3.WHMIS, first aid, and fall protection training.
4.Knowledge of building envelope, roofing systems, or solar mounting systems.
Work Conditions
1.Work performed on construction sites and occasionally in office or vehicle-based settings.
2.Must be able to lift materials, carry equipment, and work at heights or in exposed conditions as required.
3.Safety-first environment with adherence to all site and employer safety policies.
