Job Description

• Provide personal care, companionship, supervision and home support to an elderly individual with Alzheimer’s disease and chronic health conditions in the client’s private residence.
• Provide supervision and attentive support to help ensure the client’s safety and well-being, particularly when the client experiences confusion or disorientation.
• Maintain a safe, calm and familiar daily routine and provide reminders, reassurance and redirection when needed.
• Provide personal care and assistance with daily routines, including reminders and guidance regarding personal hygiene, grooming and dressing, while encouraging the client to maintain independence whenever safely possible.
• Assist the client with walking and regular light exercise and provide mobility assistance as required.
• Administer medications according to prescribed schedules and instructions, and provide reminders to help ensure medications are taken as directed.
• Accompany the client to medical appointments and assist with scheduling, transportation and other routine medical visits as required.
• Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks according to the client’s dietary needs and preferences.
• Provide companionship and engage the client in appropriate recreational and social activities and conversation.
• Observe changes in the client’s behaviour, memory, mobility, eating habits or general condition and report significant changes or concerns to the family.
• Perform light housekeeping duties, including cleaning the client’s living areas, washing dishes, doing laundry and changing household linens.
• Shop for groceries and household supplies as required.
• Follow established household routines and family instructions concerning the client’s care, medications and safety.

Education level: Secondary (High) School Graduation Certificate

Required skills: 1 year to less than 2 years work experience
