Job Description
Job Duties
• Review project drawings, specifications, and work orders to assess surface conditions and determine required materials, tools, and schedules
• Lead surface preparation activities, including sanding, scraping, pressure or steam cleaning, abrasive blasting, and repairing cracks, dents, and surface defects
• Advise clients or project managers on colour coordination, finishing options, and surface treatment solutions
• Remove existing coatings and wall coverings to ensure proper adhesion of new finishes
• Mix, thin, and customize paints and coatings to achieve specified colours, textures, and performance requirements
• Apply a wide range of finishes, including paints, stains, varnishes, lacquers, enamels, fire-resistant and protective coatings using brush, roller, or spray equipment
• Measure, cut, and install wallpaper or decorative wall coverings with precision
• Assemble and dismantle scaffolding, swing stages, and access equipment in compliance with safety regulations
• Supervise and mentor junior painters, ensuring quality standards, productivity, and workplace safety
• Conduct final inspections to confirm compliance with project specifications and client expectations
Employment Requirements:
• At least secondary school education
• At least one year work experience
• Completion of apprenticeship program or trade certificate is preferred
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Good communication skills and adherence to workplace safety procedures
