We are currently seeking an experienced Financial Manager to oversee the company’s financial operations and support its continued business growth.

Job Duties
1.Plan, organize and oversee the company’s accounting and financial operations related to wholesale food purchasing, warehouse inventory, customer sales, delivery activities and overall business operations.
2.Develop and implement financial policies, accounting procedures and internal control systems to improve financial accuracy, operational efficiency and cost management.
3.Coordinate the preparation and review of monthly and annual financial statements, cash flow reports, operating summaries and other financial management reports for business planning and management decisions.
4.Lead the company’s budgeting and financial planning process by preparing annual operating budgets, monitoring actual financial performance and recommending adjustments to improve profitability and financial performance.
5.Analyze inventory costs, purchasing expenses, warehouse operating costs, transportation expenses and other operating expenditures, and provide financial recommendations to improve business efficiency and support future growth.
6.Monitor cash flow, accounts receivable, accounts payable and working capital, review outstanding customer accounts, and ensure the company’s financial resources are effectively managed.
7.Evaluate accounting procedures, financial reporting systems and internal financial controls, and recommend improvements to strengthen financial management and support business operations.
8.Coordinate with external accountants, financial institutions, insurance providers and government agencies regarding taxation, payroll, financial reporting and regulatory compliance.
9.Supervise, organize, train and support accounting and administrative staff, review financial records and ensure company financial policies and procedures are consistently followed.
10.Report significant financial trends, operating risks and budget concerns to senior management, and provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic planning and long-term business development.
Job Requirements
1.Bachelor’s degree required.
2.Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or financial management, including experience in a supervisory or management role, is required.
3.Educational background in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce or a related discipline is considered an asset.
4.Previous work experience in wholesale, food distribution, warehouse, inventory management or other commercial operations is considered an asset.
5.Previous work experience in Halifax or surrounding areas is considered an asset.
6.Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, cost control, cash flow management, payroll administration, GST/HST requirements and general accounting principles.
7.Experience overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory costing and financial reporting.
8.Experience using computerized accounting and financial management systems such as QuickBooks, Sage or similar software.
9.Basic to intermediate English communication skills required.
10.Strong analytical, organizational and leadership skills.
11.Ability to supervise staff, prioritize multiple responsibilities and work effectively in a fast-paced business environment.
12.Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications is preferred.
