Job Description

We are a full-service law firm looking for a real estate legal assistant to support our team. This position would be an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to grow their career within a professional work environment.
Main job duties:

• Prepare, draft and key in correspondence and legal documents
• Facilitate the completion of conveyancing and financing transactions
• Schedule appointments, meetings and conferences for the clients with lawyers
• Perform due diligence searches relating to real estate transactions such as BC Online, Personal Property Registry, and LTSA
• Prepare closing books, trust reconciliations, reporting letters, and billing
• Perform Land Title filings/registrations
• Answer incoming calls and emails, handle inquiries, coordinate information flow, and redirect phone calls or emails to the proper persons
• Keep clients informed of progress made with real estate applications.
• Maintain and organize office files, records, and documents, follow established procedures, and ensure confidentiality.
• Perform general administrative duties, such as filing, scanning, copying, etc.
• Update and manage file databases and software systems with a focus on data integrity.
• May supervise and train junior staff in closing procedures and in the use of current software
• Other tasks as reasonably required.

Education level: College

Required skills: • Minimum 1 year of previous legal assistant experience, preferably in Real Estate. • Experience with Esilaw, Clio, Quickbooks is a plus • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal). • Strong organization skills, attention to detail • Strong time management skills to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines • An excellent problem-solver who is resourceful enough find a solution and execute the solution
