UNION: CUPE, Local 387
HOURS OF WORK: 10-20 hours per week*
SALARY: $29.74 to $32.35 per hour + 12% in lieu of all benefits

The City of New Westminster, Parks and Recreation Department is currently seeking a passionate Skateboard and Scooter Instructor to lead a variety of skateboard and scooter lessons this summer. This position instructs and evaluates individuals learning to skateboard or scooter; from basic to more advanced skills. The preferred candidate should have previous experience teaching wheeled sports and experience working with children and possess the ability to be creative and maintain safety standards. Must have excellent customer service, communication, organizational and program planning skills. The position is for July and August, with a variety of hours and the possibility of extending into the fall.

Successful applicants will possess the following:
• Current Standard First Aid.
• CPR C Certificate.
• Superior communication and exceptional customer service skills.
• Experience working with children and youth.
• Specific skills in either skateboarding or wheeled sports.
• Experience with program planning and delivery.
• Ability to successfully pass and maintain a clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.

Duties include:
• Leading a variety of skateboard and scooter lessons at the Boro All Wheels Park and the Queens Park Skatepark.
• Program planning and development.
• Providing a fun, organized and safe environment that encourages participation in the lessons.
• Engaging with the community that is using the park spaces.
