Job Description

Assess job sites, taking accurate measurements and marking work areas prior to beginning installation.
Cut and secure underlay and cushioning material to prepare subfloors for finished coverings.
Develop project timelines and installation schedules for assigned flooring jobs.
Fit and lay carpet to specification across residential and commercial floor spaces.
Cut and fit resilient materials such as vinyl to floor surfaces with precision.
Lay and finish hardwood flooring in line with client and manufacturer requirements.
Identify wear, damage, or defects in installed flooring and carry out repairs.
Test subfloor conditions — including moisture level, pH, and temperature — before starting installation work.
Level, clean, and otherwise ready floor surfaces to receive new coverings.
Strip out old flooring materials and clear away debris and residue from the work area.
Use power stretchers and knee kickers to achieve a tight, secure carpet fit.
Apply adhesive directly to subfloors for glue-down carpet installations.
Install carpet using the double-bond (double-glue) method where specified.
Fit flooring materials onto countertops, platforms, and other raised surfaces.

Required languages: English

Education level: Secondary or vocational trade

Required skills: Accurate measuring, cutting, and fitting of flooring materials; Proficiency with flooring hand and power tools; Physical stamina for kneeling, bending, and lifting; Attention to detail for seams, patterns, and finish quality; Problem-solving for surface and installation issues; Time management to meet project deadlines
