Description:
-Title: Health care aide (NOC 33102)
-Vacancy: 1 position
-Wage: $27.92 per hour
-Work Hours: 30-35 hours/week
-Work Location: 3316 30th AVE VERNON BC V1T 2C8
Requirements:
-Some secondary school education and some on-the-job training experience or completion of a related program in a college or authorized institution is required.
-Completion of specialized courses in CPR or first aid is an asset.
-BC HCA registry is required.
-Up to date Criminal Check with Vulnerable Factor is required.
-Current CPR/First Aid training or willingness to obtain.
-Negative TB skin test or chest x-ray is required.
Responsibilities:
-Respond to patient call lights; provide and empty bed pans.
-Bathe, dress and groom patients; deliver meal trays, assist patients with feeding and menu selection.
-Weigh, lift, turn and position patients; shave patients before operations.
-Supervise patient exercise routines, arrange and offer leisure activities for patients, accompany patients to external recreational events, and perform other related duties to maintain patient care and comfort.
-Measure patients’ blood pressure, temperature and pulse; record and report fluid intake and output; observe and monitor patients’ conditions and document patient care information on medical charts; collect specimens including urine, stool and sputum.
-Administer first aid to injured or unwell patients during emergency situations, within the approved scope of practice.
-Transport patients using wheelchairs or stretchers to attend treatment or surgical procedures.
-Deliver messages, reports, supply requisitions and specimens between different departments.
-Make patient beds and keep patient rooms well maintained.
-Keep track of and maintain the inventory of medical supplies.
-Assist with setting up and maintaining traction equipment; clean and sterilize equipment; support equipment maintenance and minor repairs; assemble, set up and operate work-related equipment.
