Please note that all hires will continue to be formally employed by a TC Energy employing entity until the separation is complete.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an Indigenous and Community Relations Specialist to join our Land, Community and Indigenous Relations team, which will be transitioned to South Bow, based in Calgary, AB.

This position builds and maintains relationships with the communities that South Bow operates along and will focus on building relationships with key community members and understanding culture, traditional knowledge, rights and interests of Indigenous communities to ensure that those factors are considered during company operations and project execution.

What you’ll do
• Facilitate communication between the company and Indigenous communities as well as non-Indigenous communities, acting as the key contact for project, operational, and maintenance requirements
• Support Community Investment & Community Legacy
• Engage contracting and employment opportunities with Indigenous groups and communities
• Implement a principled approach for how we engage with Indigenous communities
• Build and maintain meaningful relationships within Indigenous communities and other local communities as the key contact of the company with a boots-on-the-ground approach
• Support regulatory applications to meet best practices and ensure we achieve adequacy for our programs and operations
• Ensure that commitments made to indigenous communities are fulfilled as part of project engagement and delivery
• Collaborate with other departments to integrate Indigenous perspectives into company operations
• Work with external service providers to help meeting program and project deliverables
• Actively participate in process development and improvement regarding the role of Indigenous relations in projects and operations
• Serve as a member of the incident management team, including on-call support for incidents, issues and emergencies to act as a liaison for communication
• Support Emergency Preparedness and Response Training and Exercise Programs on behalf of Indigenous Relations through attendance at field exercises, drills, and deployments and training events across South Bow’s base of operation. Involve Indigenous communities in these events to help strengthen our relationships

Required languages: English

Education level: Post-Secondary Education in a related field

Required skills: 6 years of related Indigenous and Community Relations experience, Proven experience working with different communities and a proven track record of building successful relationships, Indigenous Relations experience in the US

Additional skills / Assets: Detailed knowledge of federal, provincial and state legislative and regulatory requirements, Experience working with Canada Energy Regulator (CER) and Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) regulated pipelines
