The Career Foundation’s Youth Thrive Program is a government funded volunteer initiative that allows young people, between the ages of 16-30, to gain experience in a field of your interest.

There are two portions to the program, starting with 30 hours of virtual trainings and workshops that prepare you for your placement. You will gain some certificates for these trainings, including one for Project Management.

After you complete your trainings, you will then have the opportunity to meet with your Placement Coaches, and discuss your passions, interests, and career goals. From there, the Coach will place you into a non-profit organization to complete your placement. This will consist of at least 90 hours, over the course of 6 months. Broken down, you would be at your placement for about 4-6 hours a week. Placements can be either in-person, virtual or hybrid.

There are many other perks to the program as well, including meal vouchers, funding for transportation, and a laptop loan if needed.

Overall, this program is a great opportunity to gain experience and build on your resume and professional portfolio, as these experiences will strengthen your marketability when searching for employment.

Asides from age, the only other eligibility requirements are you must either be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or have Granted Refugee Status.
