Job Description
Position Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented and driven Staff Accountant to join our professional team. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing financial statements, corporate and personal tax returns, and assisting with client advisory and year-end engagements. This role is ideal for individuals pursuing their CPA designation and looking to gain diverse experience in public practice.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare working papers and financial statements for Compilation engagements
• Prepare corporate tax returns (T2), personal tax returns (T1), and trust returns (T3)
• Assist in the preparation of HST/GST filings, payroll filings, and other government remittances
• Perform account reconciliations and analysis of general ledger accounts
• Liaise with clients to collect documentation and clarify financial and tax information
• Maintain accurate and organized client files in accordance with firm standards
• Support senior staff and partners with year-end and special advisory projects
• Assist with CRA correspondence and audits under guidance
• Stay up-to-date with changes in tax legislation and accounting standards

Required skills: • Enrollment in or intent to pursue CPA designation • 2-3 years of experience in a public accounting firm preferred • Strong working knowledge of Caseware, TaxCycle, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Excel • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills • Ability to manage multiple client files and meet deadlines during peak seasons • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
