Job Summary
We are seeking skilled and dependable Truck and Trailer Mechanics to join our team. Successful candidates will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining commercial transport trucks and trailer systems to ensure safe, efficient operations. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and experience with heavy-duty truck and trailer equipment.
Responsibilities
As a Truck and Trailer Mechanic, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Adjusting, repairing, or replacing parts and components of commercial transport truck systems
• Confirming findings with supervisors to determine whether to repair or replace units
• Inspecting and testing mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions
• Inspecting motors in operation to diagnose mechanical issues
• Road testing motor vehicles to ensure proper performance and functionality
• Testing automotive systems and components using diagnostic tools and equipment
• Adjusting, repairing, or replacing parts and components of automotive systems
• Adjusting, repairing, or replacing parts and components of truck-trailer systems
• Repairing or replacing mechanical units and components as required
• Testing and adjusting repaired systems to manufacturer specifications
• Performing scheduled preventative maintenance and servicing on trucks and trailers
• Testing and adjusting units to the required specifications
• Completing reports to document problems diagnosed, repairs performed, and maintenance completed
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment
• Coaching and instructing apprentices as required

Experience
• Proven experience as a Truck and Trailer Mechanic or Heavy Duty Mechanic
• Strong knowledge of commercial transport truck systems, trailer systems, diesel engines, brakes, and suspension systems
• Ability to inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical issues
• Experience using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and shop equipment safely and effectively
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and repair documentation
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in a fast-paced environment

– Journeyman certification or related trade certification is considered an asset
– Experience in mentoring apprentices is considered an asset
