Responsibilities
Tasks include:
Create manufacturing instructions
Assist in preparing design, drawings and specifications
Assist in the design of moulds, tools, dies, jigs and fixtures
Carry out a limited range of mechanical tests and analyses of machines, components and materials
Use computer aided design CAD
Design tools, moulds, jigs and fixtures
Estimate costs and materials
Prepare and interpret engineering design, drawings and specifications
Prepare manufacturing drawings, specifications and guidelines for production and construct prototype of design
Assist in design development
Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments
Interpret blueprints, specifications, standards and written technical instructions

Credentials
Certificates, licences, memberships and courses
Eligible for certification by a provincial or territorial association
