Job Description

Nikhil’s Anand & Care Society in Langley, BC V4W 1V7, is looking for two full-time, permanent Home Support Workers (Special Needs) (NOC 44101) to provide care to their 25-year-old son in a private home setting.

Start Date:- As soon as possible

Shifts & Hours of Work: Variable shifts available
Monday to Sunday
07:00AM to 3:00PM
03:00PM to 11:00PM
11:00PM to 07:00AM

Wage: $23.00 – $27.00 per hour (depending on experience) for 30-35 hours per week

Job duties will include (but may not be limited to):
• Delivering exceptional care to the dedicated client in their home
• Support social skill development, physical activity, speech and language learning activities
• Help execute comprehensive personalized weekly schedules and care plans
• Complete daily tasks in a safe and professional manner
• Supply personal companionship, remaining actively engaged with the client by providing ongoing social & emotional support
• Assist with personal care activities to include personal hygiene, mobility assistance, light housekeeping, feeding, communication and meal preparation
• Keep order, safety and client enjoyment top priority at all times
• Provide transportation to and from appointments, as needed
• Administrative functions such as documentation of completion of tasks and report changes in the client’s physical condition, mental capability or behavior
• Engage in gentle exercises and board games for physical and mental well-being of the client

Job Requirements:
• Completion of a training program in care of the persons with disabilities or in a related field would be an asset.
• Experience in a social service environment (paid or volunteered) would be an asset
• Experience working with autistic children would be an asset

Additional Requirements:
• First Aid Level 1 and Clean Criminal record check
• Must be non-smoker and fully vaccinated
• Be able to motivate the child in a friendly positive manner to achieve more independence and confidence
• Driver’s License would be an asset
• Empathy, patience and kindness are expected
• Basic computer skills as well as overall technical savviness would be an asset
