About the Position
Lin’s Chinese Restaurant is seeking an experienced Cook to join our kitchen team. The successful candidate will assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of Chinese dishes and support the daily operations of the kitchen in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Job Duties
• Prepare and cook a variety of Chinese dishes, including stir-fries, fried rice, noodle dishes, soups, and regional specialties using traditional Chinese cooking techniques and wok stations.
• Adjust ingredients, seasonings, spice levels, and cooking methods to accommodate customer preferences, dietary restrictions, and special requests.
• Assign daily food preparation tasks and provide guidance to kitchen helpers in ingredient preparation, vegetable cutting, meat marinating, and workstation organization.
• Coordinate food preparation, cooking schedules, and the production of dine-in and takeout orders to ensure food quality and timely service during busy periods.
• Monitor inventory levels of ingredients, seasonings, sauces, and kitchen supplies, and report replenishment needs as required.
• Assist in preparing food for catering orders, group dining requests, and special events when required.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, wok stations, refrigerators, food preparation tables, and storage areas in accordance with food safety standards.
• Assist with portion control, daily preparation planning, and monitoring ingredient usage to support efficient kitchen operations and reduce food waste.
• Assist with the orientation and on-the-job training of new kitchen staff on food preparation procedures, Chinese cooking techniques, and food safety practices.

Qualifications
• Completion of secondary school.
• Minimum one (1) year of commercial cooking experience required.
• Experience preparing Chinese cuisine in a restaurant setting is considered an asset.
• Experience working in a high-volume restaurant, catering, institutional, or commercial kitchen environment is preferred.
• Experience using wok cooking techniques and handling a variety of Chinese ingredients is considered an asset.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures.
• Strong attention to food quality, consistency, and presentation.
• Ability to communicate in Cantonese is considered an asset to facilitate communication within the kitchen team.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
