Job Description

Our household is looking for an in-home child caregiver who is extremely proactive, self-sufficient and adaptable to our needs. The caregiver will care for a toddler (currently 21 months) and baby (currently 4 months).

Job Overview
The child caregiver will be responsible for ensuring a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for our toddler while supporting our baby’s needs as required. The caregiver must be highly organized, attentive, and capable of proactively managing daily childcare tasks with minimal supervision.
Location: At our home in Kelowna

Required qualifications and experience: – Minimum 1.5 years experience in childcare – Certified in infant and child CPR – ECE A – Certificate

Language requirements : English required and Fluent Brazilian Portuguese. Our household language is Brazilian Portuguese so the caregiver must be fluent. English skills must be basic in order to call emergency services or communicate with neighbours as needed.

Primary Responsibilities

**Toddler’s Daily Routine**
– Wake, change diaper, and dress for the day
– Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks (breakfast, lunch, two snacks)
– Supervise unstructured playtime and encourage independent exploration
– Plan and lead at least one educational activity per day (dexterity, alphabet, art, music, etc.)
– Prioritize outdoor activities when weather permits—spending time outside is encouraged
– Put toddler down for nap time

**During Nap Time**
– 40-minute break for caregiver’s rest/lunch
– After break, complete assigned duties while toddler sleeps

**Cleaning & End-of-Day Responsibilities**
– Maintain cleanliness of eating areas, play spaces, and toys
– End-of-day cleanup before departure ensuring toddler’s belongings are in place
– Provide a daily report detailing activities, learning progress, eating habits, and nap time updates

Additional Responsibilities

**Meal Preparation & Household Organization**
– Toddler meal prep for the week (once a week, ideally Mondays)
– Prepare weekly grocery list (Fridays) for essential childcare supplies
– Handle children’s laundry and change bathroom towels weekly
– Keep children’s drawers, closets, and rooms organized
– Maintain children’s designated areas in the linen closet
– Monitor and notify household of needed items (diapers, wipes, detergent, soap, diaper pail bags, etc.)

Requirements & Qualifications
– Minimum 1.5 years of childcare experience
– Infant & child CPR certification (mandatory)
– ECE A Certificate preferred
– Basic English & Portuguese language proficiency

Compensation & Work Schedule
– Compensation (hourly wage): $20/hour Benefits: 4% paid vacation
– Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 7 AM – 4 PM
– Tuesday, Thursday: 7 AM – 12 PM (30 hours/week)

Screen Time Policy
– No phone or screen time during caregiving hours—including music—ensuring full engagement with the child
