Haro Park Centre Vancouver is accepting applications for casual cooks to join our Food Services team. We are seeking staff who have strong desire to provide high quality service. Candidates must be available for shifts between 6:30am and 9:30pm, 7 days a week. Casual employment may lead to a regular position in the future.
Summary and duties

Under the direction of the Food Service Manager and following HACCP principles:

• Prepare and cook high quality and nutritious meals;
• Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen; receive and store food deliveries and ensure food served is at proper temperature and portion size;
• Weight measure, mix, and prepare ingredients according to recipes
• Steam, grill, broil, bake, or fry meats, fish, vegetables, and other ingredients
• Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily
• Accessible
• Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat
• etc.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized 12 month program in cooking or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. High school mandatory

• Concern and interest in providing quality care to residents
• Good knowledge and practice of food safe handling and HACCP
• Ability to read and write in English fluently and follow instructions
• Ability to communicate tactfully and with maturity when working with residents, staff, volunteers and guests
• Ability to work independently and organize workload
• Ability to work in a team
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position while working under pressure in a warm and noisy environment
• Ability to operate related equipment
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of resident information
