This is a seasonal hands-on Concession Stand Lead (Concession Worker 2) position who supervises Concession Worker 1. Assist oversee the daily food service operation at concession outlets and special events in City’s parks and facilities. This work includes assisting the opening and closing of outdoor seasonal concession outlets; provide feedback on the staff scheduling; supervising and participates in the work of Concession Worker 1 engaged in preparing and selling food and beverages; accurate account of stock on hands, and maintaining an inventory of supplies; assigning, participating, recording and auditing the daily, weekly and monthly cleaning of the facility and food equipment; carry out equipment and facility deep cleaning; preparing and maintaining records of food safety requirement; maintaining standard cooking procedures; independence of judgment and action are exercised in day-to-day operations; ensures that the daily schedule of activity and established quality standards are maintained; unusual problems are referred to supervisors.
If you have the following characteristics and qualifications, we want to hear from you:
• Completion of Grade 12 preferred
• Minimum of two years in fast food services supervision or related experience including demonstrated experience in the area of staff and concession stand supervision
• Possession of a valid Food Safe Level 1
• Valid Class 7N or Class 5 BC Drivers License and ability to drive a cargo van
• Preferred candidates with a certificate of completion of the online WHMIS Course from the British Columbia Municipal Safety Association BCMSA online WHMIS course
• Ability to supervise frontline concession workers to carry out the goals of providing customers with the highest quality in products, customer services in a neat, clean and professional looking environment
• Ability to provide direction and support to frontline concession workers while working independently and effectively in a high stress and fast paced environment
• Knowledge of the concession operation standards, operating of food service equipment, basic food preparatory techniques, sanitation and safety issues
• Strong attention-to-detail skills
• Ability to accurately account for cash register procedures and inventory
• Ability to operate point of sale system. Experience in using Square Register POS would be an asset
• Ability to use verbal and written skills to communicate with staff and prepare written reports when required
• Ability to tolerate extreme heat, and humidity necessary to work in kitchens, and work outdoors
• Ability to stand and walk for entire length of shift as work duties demand
• Ability to perform other duties as assigned
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for set-up, service and clean concession stands
• Must be able to pass and maintain a Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector Check
This seasonal position will be required to work a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends and statutory holidays as required to support operational needs. Shifts are subject to change due to weather, attendance and events. Start, end date and schedule as below.
For the Concession Stand Lead at Westminster Pier Park Eats at the Pier concession, to start on April 17 and work until September 7. Below is an example of a weekly schedule:
o From April 17 to September 7 – 20 to 40 hours per week
o Monday, Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday – 12:15 pm to 8:45 pm
o Friday – 8:30 am to 11:45 am, 4:00 pm to 8:45 pm
o Tuesday – Off
o Thursday – Off
For the Concession Stand Lead for Queen’s Park Treats, Queen’s Park and Hume Park Goodies concessions, to start on April 24 and work until September 7. Below is an example of a weekly schedule:
o From April 24 to June 28 – 20 to 32 hours per week
• Monday – Off
• Tuesday – 8:30 am to 11:45 am, 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm
• Wednesday – Off
• Thursday – 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm
• Friday – Off
• Saturday – 11:00 am to 7:30 pm
• Sunday – 11:00 am to 7:30 pm
o From June 29 to September 7 – 20 to 40 hours per week
• Monday – Off
• Tuesday – 8:30 am to 11:45 am; 4:00 pm to 8:45 pm
• Wednesday – Off
• Thursday – 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm
• Friday – 9:00 am to 4:30 pm
• Saturday – 11:00 am to 7:30 pm
• Sunday – 11:00 am to 7:30 pm
