SALARY: $42.09 – $44.75 per hour + 12% in lieu of all benefits and vacation

The City of New Westminster is seeking one or two enthusiastic, friendly and outgoing individual(s) to teach dance lessons to older adults – 50+.

We are looking for a vibrant and experienced dance instructor to join our faculty and lead seasonal programs with a focus on adults and seniors. This position requires an educational background in dance, either through continued professional development or through completion of accredited programs. You must have a strong dance background, and experience teaching dance. Some specific duties will include developing curriculum in line with the ongoing programming and upholding the high quality and professionalism in the City of New Westminster. In your resume, please highlight your training, teaching methods and any dance styles you are qualified to teach.

Requirements Include:
• Minimum 3 years of previous teaching experience.
• Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and objectives of dance education in community recreation facilities.
• Sound knowledge of non-formal teaching methods and group leadership techniques.
• Excellent supervisory and organizational skills.
• Must be able to successfully pass and maintain a clear police information check.
• Experience teaching older adults (preferred)
• Standard First Aid/CPR

*Please note that the hours of work are dependent on program registration and the successful candidate will have the ability to work weekdays, evenings and/or weekends.
