The Art and Technology Lab at Anvil Centre offers a rich array of programs to the public, school, and professionals, in animation, video, coding, robotics, 3D printing, design, and sound production.
We are looking for two media art instructors interested in participating in our summer workshop programs and weekend programming during the school year, to support the development of unique public workshops, which incorporate technology while teaching art fundamentals. At the core of your work is a focus on quality, creativity, imagination and professionalism.
As an instructor, your work will include developing and submitting workshop proposals, demonstrating a variety of teaching methods, delivering imaginative art and technology workshops, and occasional outdoor field trips. The focus for 2026 summer camps will be high quality public Arts and Technology workshops and day camps for children that will focus on Coding and/or audio/video media. Future offerings and proposals may include programs for children, adults, and professional artists.
If you have the following characteristics and qualifications, we want to hear from you:
• You have completed a post-secondary degree, diploma or equivalent in the arts, design and/or education or you have a special knowledge of contemporary art practice.
• You have previous experience teaching children and adopt a flexible teaching style; or you have taken art education courses.
• You have strong knowledge and experience in Coding and Audio/Video media.
• You have the ability to propose and develop original workshops.
• You have knowledge of the principles, practices and objectives in contemporary art education and you are interested in developing new ways to encourage creativity and innovation.
• You have excellent scheduling, and organizational skills with the ability to follow through on proposals and requests in a timely manner.
• You have excellent communication both oral and written, and can provide your teaching materials for documentation.
• You have the ability to pass and maintain a satisfactory Police Information Check with vulnerable sector check.
• The ability to work a non-standard work schedule of weekdays, evenings and/or weekends
• Experience with the new BC school curriculum is considered an asset.
*This position is an auxiliary role with flexible hours and duration based on the department’s needs, and will be dependent on program registration.
