Job Description

Engineering Operations is currently seeking an enthusiastic, hardworking, team oriented and self-motivated Pump Station Service Worker to join their team. Under the direction of the supervisor of water and wastewater, you will be involved in the inspection, maintenance, routine repair and installation of equipment at various sanitary and storm pump stations throughout the city.
If the following characteristics and skills describe you, we want to meet you:
Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by technical courses related to the work plus considerable related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience as acceptable to the employer may be considered.
Certification in EOCP Wastewater Collection Level 1 as well as Confined Space Entry are required.
Introduction to Sewer Pump and Lift Station Maintenance as well as Electrical Safety and Trouble Shooting for Lift Station, considered an asset.
You have considerable knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools and equipment used in the maintenance, repair, inspection and operation of pump stations and systems.
You have considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions required in the work.
You have the ability to inspect operations, diagnose and correct malfunctions, and perform routine maintenance, repair and installation on pump equipment and systems.
You have the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and perform work under minimal supervision.
You have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers.
You have the ability to read and interpret meters and gauges, requisition parts and materials, and prepare and maintain records required in the work. You have the ability to perform duties under minimal supervision.
You have skill in the use and care of tools and equipment used in the work.
Class 3 driver’s license with air brake endorsement is preferred. You must successfully pass and maintain a clear Police Information Check.
