Job Description

Are you a talented baker with a flair for creating delectable pastries and desserts? Caledon Country Club is seeking a skilled Baker to join our culinary team. In this role, you will be responsible for producing high-quality baked goods for golf club members and buffets.

Schedule: 40 hours | 5 days a week | Wednesday to Sunday, (Mon and Tue – days off)
Wage: $34.07/hr

Duties & Responsibilities:
o Prepare and mix dough for various baked goods, including pies, bread, rolls, muffins, cookies, cakes, and specialty items, following recipes or customer requests.
o Bake and assemble pastries, bread, and desserts for golf club members and buffet services.
o Frost and decorate cakes and other baked items to enhance presentation and appeal.
o Maintain high-quality standards for all baked products, ensuring consistency and taste.
o Develop production schedules to determine the type and quantity of baked goods required.
o Manage inventory by purchasing baking supplies and maintaining stock levels.
o Supervise sales and merchandising of baked products, ensuring effective presentation.
o Hire, train, and may oversee baking staff and kitchen personnel as needed.
o Design pastry menus for regular offerings and special events, ensuring variety and innovation.
o Work closely with kitchen staff to coordinate production for buffets and member services.
o Customize pastry selections based on seasonal ingredients and member preferences.

Required Skills
Expertise in baking techniques, pastry and bread making, and ingredient interactions is essential. Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and menu development ensures quality and creativity in baked goods.

Employment requirements
• Completion of secondary school is usually required.
• Completion of a three- or four-year apprenticeship program for bakers
or
completion of a college or other program for bakers
or
several years of commercial baking experience is usually required.
• On-the-job training may be provided.
