First Cook| Caledon Country Club

Are you a dedicated cook seeking a fulfilling career opportunity? Caledon Country Club is searching for talented first cooks to join our team!

Schedule: 40 hours | 5 days a week | Wednesday to Sunday, (Mon and Tue – days off)
Wage: $34.07/hr

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
• Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
• Prepare and cook complete meals for the restaurant
• May set up and oversee buffets
• May plan menus, determine size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs
• Monitor supplies and order supplies
• Cook food in various utensils or grillers
• Check food while cooking to stir or turn
• Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
• Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
• Check quality of ingredients
• Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages

Required Skills
Must have strong cooking skills, kitchen safety knowledge, inventory management, and leadership to oversee food preparation and staff efficiently.

Employment requirements
o Completion of secondary school is usually required.
o Completion of a three-year apprenticeship program for cooks
Or
o completion of college or other program in cooking or food safety
or
o several years of commercial cooking experience may be required.
