Job Title: Licensed Barber/Hairstylist
Salary range: $20 – $30/hr
Job type: Full-time, permanent
Working hours: 40hrs/weekly; 80hrs/biweekly

Job Description

The barber/stylist is expected to perform various tasks related to both hairstyling and barber services including the following essential functions:

– Provide professional and timely services to clients of the salon;
– Cut, trim, taper, curl, wave, perm and style hair according to client’s instructions or preferences;
– Suggest hairstyle compatible with client’s physical features or determine style from client’s preferences;
– Apply bleach, tints, dyes or rinses to colour, frost or streak hair;
– Shave and trim beards and moustaches according to client’s instructions or preferences;
– Shampoo hair and provide other hair treatment, such as straightening and tinting and provide scalp conditioning massages;
– Book appointments, follow-up appointments and order necessary supplies;
– Analyze hair and scalp condition and provide basic treatment or advice on beauty care treatments for scalp and hair;
– Train and supervise other hairstylists, barbers or hairstylist apprentices and assistants;
– Adhere to and practice all health and safety procedures focused on maintaining a safe, healthy and conducive work environment;
– Ensure good housekeeping in his/her working areas;

Job Requirements

– Willing to relocate for this position;
– Able to legally work in Canada;
– At least 5 years of work experience working as hairstylist and barber;
– Credentials of hairstylist/barber Trade Certification or equivalent experience;
– Be able to work on shifts including evening shifts;
– Good English oral and written communication skills. Additional language skills particularly in French would be an asset;
– Be able to demonstrate skills and experiences related to hair coloring techniques especially dyes and/or tints;
– Must have skill, ability and experience in training and supervising fellow hairstylists and/or barbers;
