Benito Country Store, a trusted neighbourhood grocery destination and essential community hub, is looking for a friendly and reliable Retail Sales Clerk to join our team. As a cornerstone of the Benito community and a licensed Manitoba Liquor Vendor, we provide everything from fresh produce to regulated goods. With the recent opening of our new food counter eatery, we are seeking individuals who enjoy providing excellent customer service in a diverse, fast-paced retail environment.
This role is ideal for a community-minded individual who enjoys interacting with neighbours and ensuring every customer leaves with exactly what they need.

Key Responsibilities
As a Retail Sales Clerk at Benito Country Store, you will:
• Greet customers and assist them in locating groceries, hardware, and household supplies.
• Operate the cash register and process payments using various methods.
• Balance and reconcile daily transactions by calculating total payments collected at the close of each shift.
• Confirm customer eligibility by verifying age requirements prior to completing sales of restricted items such as lottery tickets, alcohol, or tobacco products.
• Assist in stocking shelves, rotating inventory, and maintaining attractive merchandise displays.
• Support the new food counter/deli operations by assisting with basic food service tasks when required.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the store, ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols.
• Handle customer inquiries and resolve minor complaints in a professional and “socially neat” manner.
• Monitor inventory levels and inform management of any stock shortages.

Qualifications
• High School graduation certification
• At least one year of previous experience in retail or customer service.
• Knowledge of basic math for handling transactions and balancing registers.
• Strong communication skills and a welcoming, supportive attitude.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks in a community-focused business.
• Reliability and integrity, particularly when handling regulated products.
