Job Description

Facility operation managers plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operations of commercial, transportation and recreational facilities and the included real estate. Facility operation managers are employed by a wide range of establishments, such as airports, harbours, canals, shopping centres, convention centres, warehouses and recreational facilities. Maintenance managers plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the maintenance department within commercial, industrial, institutional, recreational and other facilities. Maintenance managers are employed by a wide range of establishments, such as office buildings, shopping centres, airports, harbours, warehouses, grain terminals, universities, schools and sports facilities, and by the maintenance and mechanical engineering departments of manufacturing and other industrial establishments.

Required skills: Direct and control the operations of commercial facilities Evaluate the operations of facilities and the included real estate Oversee the preparation of reports and statistics related to areas of responsibility Plan and organize the operations of the facilities and the included real estate Promote sales to existing clients Read blueprints to determine dimensions of structure or system and material requirements Identify and solicit potential clients Develop reports and proposals to illustrate benefits from use of good or service Estimate costs of installing and maintaining equipment or service Use sales forecasting software Provide input into product design where goods or services must be tailored to suit client's needs Consult with clients after sale to provide ongoing support Develop and implement schedules and procedures for safety inspections and preventive maintenance programs Hire and oversee training and supervision of staff Oversee the installation, maintenance and repair of real estate infrastructures including machinery, equipment and electrical and mechanical systems Plan and manage the facility's operations budget Plan, organize and direct administrative services such as signage, cleaning, maintenance, parking, safety inspections, security and snow removal Resolve product and service related problems Troubleshoot problems related to equipment Organize and maintain inventory Supervision
