Job Description

Check for appropriate operation of bulldozers, cranes, graders, and other heavy construction, agricultural, logging, and mining equipment, as well as inspect equipment for flaws and malfunctions.
To establish the level of repair necessary, use computerised and other testing equipment to diagnose flaws or malfunctions.
Using hand and power tools, adjust equipment and repair or replace damaged parts, components, or systems.
To check that the work fits the manufacturer’s criteria, test the restored equipment for proper performance.
Equipment should be cleaned, lubricated, and other routine maintenance tasks performed.

Required languages: English

Education level: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Required skills: Heavy-duty equipment technician trade certification is required in Quebec and Alberta  Columbia, agricultural equipment technician trade certification is accessible but voluntary. After passing the interprovincial Red Seal test, skilled heavy duty equipment technicians and agricultural equipment technicians can receive the Red Seal endorsement.
