Job Description
SUMMARY
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Service Innovation & Implementation Lead functions as part of a team working to lead the implementation of a provincial integrated youth services initiative. Kickstand’s Provincial Implementation Team is tasked with the successful exploration, development, implementation, and evaluation of a network of Kickstand centres, designed to improve the health and wellness of young people and their families and caregivers. This position is responsible for initiating, developing, implementing and evaluating the integrated youth services model of care with a focus on creating positive help-seeking behaviors, early identification of developing mental health concerns, connecting individuals to early interventions, and creating seamless and comfortable pathways to higher intensity care options. They contribute to setting strategic and operational direction for Kickstand and are responsible for maintaining supportive relationships with community partners and stakeholders to create a shared vision, facilitate co-locations and integration of care options, and enhance understanding and adoption of the integrated youth services model of care.
The Service Implementation & Innovation Lead provides clinical leadership in the development and planning for the integrated model of care by leading the clinical network and establishing a framework for facilitating effective dialogue, decision-making, support, and coordination for Kickstand initiatives with the partner agencies, Recovery Alberta, Children’s Services, Community and Social Services, Education, and other key stakeholders. They also develop a broad project management framework and serve as a primary liaison and a project resource throughout the process. The Service Innovation & Implementation Lead is passionate about building community capacity, meaningful youth and family engagement, and helping to build effective and holistic experiences of accessing care in the community. They are interested in supporting systems transformation and improving health outcomes for young people and their families/caregivers.
ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Build on the organization’s strategic plan and stakeholder consultation, provide leadership in the implementation, fidelity, and continuous improvement of the service delivery model to include the establishment and enhancement of local integrated youth service centres and online services for youth across the province
Facilitate the identification and removal of systemic barriers to implementation that may be in place at the local, zone or provincial level
Lead the development, implementation, evaluation and ongoing improvement of Kickstand’s stepped care model, including walk-in services, and other innovations by working collaboratively with commissioned agencies and partners, and exchanging knowledge with provincial, national, and international partners
Work collaboratively with the Executive Director, Kickstand’s Data & Evaluation team, Kickstand Provincial Implementation Team and community partners (e.g., Recovery Alberta, Primary Care Alberta, and other service providers) to ensure the timely implementation and effective integration of organizational strategies for care delivery, communication, knowledge exchange and transfer, research, and evaluation at the provincial and local level
Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop and integrate standards and guidelines into service delivery that ensures consistent service across all implemented programs that are aligned with both the principles and mandate of Kickstand and those of its partner organizations and support evidence-based practice
Lead the implementation of Kickstand’s information sharing approach and support the implementation of a privacy-conscious environment across all the Kickstand network locations.
Provide direction, resources and support to Network sites on strategies for achieving/working toward integration of health, mental health and social services, using Fulops model for integrating health services and other evidence-informed models and best practices for integrated care.
Identify and recommend opportunities for the introduction and deployment of new programs and initiatives that enhance access to young adult services by gathering input from stakeholders, service providers, consumers, and families/caregivers, and/or research on best practice
Provide direction on the development and implementation of the evaluation framework and developmental and outcome evaluation activities while supporting the development of the implementation science and practice approach to service implementation
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience
Master’s degree in a discipline related to Health Care, Non-Profit Management, Community Development, Policy, or Leadership and at least five years of experience in the non-profit sector including experience working with multi-stakeholder processes, developing partnerships and governance structures, and creating and delivering knowledge exchange training content, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Member of a regulated profession and member in good standing of an Alberta college (e.g., occupational therapy, social work, nursing, psychology etc)
Experience in a service delivery environment (e.g., physical or mental health clinic, social services etc) and strong understanding of service-related operational activities (e.g., informed consent, confidentiality, working with minors, etc)
Experience working with Indigenous-led organizations, Indigenous communities and/or Indigenous people, experience delivering client-centered care, or experience working with or in an integrated youth services initiative would be considered strong assets.
Preference to applicants with education, training and/or experience in change management, organizational leadership and/or implementation science.
Valid Alberta Driver’s License required. Access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes is preferred.
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of systems and processes related to community development, governance models, distributed leadership, government and nonprofit partnerships, communications, and non-profits
Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, policies, programs, and services including within Alberta healthcare and social service systems
Knowledge of, and experience with, information sharing procedures within a clinical service delivery environment
Knowledge of current Alberta privacy legislation (e.g., Protection of Privacy and Access to Information Acts, Health Information Act, etc)
Exceptional group facilitation and communication skills including demonstrated professionalism, tact, good judgment, and diplomacy in interactions with senior leaders, both internally and within the community
Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, management, and relationship-building skills
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically to lead and promote change
Demonstrated ability to rapidly understand local organizational and partnership culture
Diplomatic negotiation, problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
Comfortable communicating formally, informally, in groups and one-on-one
Ability to obtain and share information, ideas, and problems while asking for advice, support, and feedback
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team
Proven ability to develop effective working relationships, work flexibly across professional and operational boundaries and communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
Relationship-centered with a get-it-done attitude and working hands-on when required

Ability and willingness to travel on a regular basis to communities throughout Alberta
Additional Information about the Role
Compensation will depend on experience and fit for the position ($90,000 – $92,000 per year plus benefits, based on experience, with room for growth ).
