Job Description

We are looking for a Grant Coordinator to join our passionate Community Partnerships team! Reporting to the Manager, Community Partnerships, you will work in collaboration with staff across the Community Services department and the City, to support the development, implementation, and coordination of the City’s grant program. Some of the duties include:
• Through community outreach, assist with the development of grant framework assets and policies;
• Coordinate grant cycles; maintain and configure the online platform for grant application intake, and manage and coordinate grant applications received;
• Develop resources for grant applicants and recipients through web content, social media, and other platforms;
• Build strong relationships with, and provide support to, community organizations, including providing support related to City services at special events for grant recipients;
• Collaborate with the City’s grant adjudication committee, attend committee meetings, and assist with committee recruitment as required;
• Assist in work planning related to grants, seek feedback on grant program and grant opportunities, and make recommendations for improvement;
• Maintain and monitor grant budgets, process payments, and develop summary reports. Ensure financial records are appropriately managed;
• Prepare various reports, presentations, and correspondence related to the work;
• Performs related work as required

*Non-standard work week. Typically Monday to Friday but some evening and weekend work required operationally.

Required languages: English

Education level: • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to community development, community planning, recreation management, communications or relevant field supplemented by related experience in a community granting program; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required skills: • Considerable knowledge of City and department objectives, and related policies, regulations and procedures. • Considerable knowledge of grant coordination and grant application intake related to the work. • Considerable knowledge and usage of web, social media and online platforms. • Sound knowledge of community, parks and recreation, planning and/or financial modeling principles, practices and techniques and of local government functions. • Ability to develop and assist with work plans to support implementation of City strategies related to grants. • Ability to maintain and configure the online grant platform and to interpret and make presentations or recommendations based on information obtained. • Ability to exercise initiative, tact and diplomacy. • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various contacts and to communicate effectively. • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including advanced knowledge of Excel. • Strong written and verbal communication, and presentation skills. • Ability to work a non-standard work week as operationally required. • Ability to pass and maintain a satisfactory Police Information Check – Vulnerable Sector.
