Job Description
Cypress Motor Inn, located in south central region of Manitoba, is a growing food manufacturing business specializing in high-quality frozen vegetable samosas introduced the brand “iCAN Samosa”. We use a combination of traditional recipes and modern food processing equipment to produce delicious and consistent products.
Opportunity:
We are looking for an experienced Cook specialized to oversee the preparation of Samosa, blending and mixing gravy, dough making, fillings, and related other food production tasks in our kitchen.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook samosa fillings using a variety of fresh ingredients and spices.
Ensure consistency in flavors and textures according to company recipes.
Cook and season ingredients in large batches for efficient production.
Monitor cooking times and temperatures to maintain food quality and safety.
Oversee dough preparation, rolling, and portioning for samosa making.
Assist in using the samosa-making machine to shape and fill samosas.
Ensure proper sealing and consistency of samosas before freezing.
Operate and maintain kitchen machinery such as mixers, food processors,
and cooking equipment.
Work with the kitchen team to optimize production efficiency.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate ingredient replenishment.
Follow all food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and workplace
safety protocols.
Ensure proper storage and handling of raw and cooked ingredients.
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen workstations, equipment, and utensils.
Train and guide kitchen helpers in food preparation and machine operation.
Work closely with the production team to meet daily and weekly output goals.
Maintain clear communication with management regarding production progress and challenges.
Required languages: English
Education level: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
Required skills: • Previous experience as a cook in a commercial kitchen, food production facility, or restaurant is preferred. • Knowledge of South Asian cuisine, particularly samosas, is an asset. • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume food production environment. • Experience handling kitchen machinery and large-scale cooking equipment. • Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and food safety. •
Additional skills / Assets: Ability to lift moderate weights (up to 25 kg) and stand for long periods. • Team player with a positive attitude.
