Job Description
DEPARTMENT: Parks and Recreation
STATUS: Regular Part-Time
NO. OF POSITIONS: Two
UNION: CUPE, Local 387
HOURS OF WORK: 30 hours per week
SALARY: $27.30 – $31.95 per hour plus benefits
Join our dynamic team at the təməsew̓txʷ Aquatic and Community Centre, a state of the art facility designed for flexibility, accessibility, and sustainability.
Responsibilities:
• Carry out deep cleaning tasks in the community centre during non-operating hours, covering multipurpose rooms, public washrooms, aquatic centre change rooms, fitness centre and gyms.
• Perform detailed floor care duties, adhering to specific protocols for a variety of flooring types.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on cleaning equipment, including auto-scrubbers, carpet extractors, and related machinery.
• Ensure compliance with established guidelines, emphasizing safety efficiency and sustainability.
Qualifications:
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Proficient in janitorial methods, materials, tools, and equipment.
• Capability to prioritize tasks and exercise independent judgement
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in basic Microsoft Office applications required.
• Demonstrate both independent work capability and collaborative teamwork within a diverse work group.
Education and experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent;
• Building Service Worker certificate
• WHMIS certificate
• Pool Operator 1 certificate is an asset
• Clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector required.
Additional Information:
• These positions will include overnight shifts.
• Applicants must attached a copy of the required certifications to their applications.
• Regular shift changes are scheduled throughout the year and are based on operational requirements.
• The successful candidate may be assigned to work at other recreation sites for extended periods.
