Position #2 – 30 hours per week
Non-standard work hours (including overnight and weekend shifts)

We are seeking two Pool Services Workers to join our dynamic team at the təməsew̓txʷ Aquatic and Community Centre, a state of the art facility designed for flexibility, accessibility, and sustainability.
This is combined operational, technical and building maintenance work performed on an assigned shift in an aquatic facility. You will perform a variety of routine maintenance, inspectional and security duties relating to swimming pools and aquatic buildings and equipment. In addition, you carry out pool filtration and vacuuming duties as required. Duties include: janitorial and custodial duties, ensuring that the weight area, washrooms, changing rooms, lobby and pools are maintained at an established level of cleanliness and sanitation at all times; maintaining a routine inspection and maintenance program for filtration systems and related pool equipment and recommending the need for major repair work to be undertaken externally; inspecting, adjusting and operating a variety of swimming pool equipment such as pumps, valves, chlorinators, heating units, filters, chlorine tanks, pipes, meters and motors as necessary to ensure the water quality and effective operation of the facility; maintaining a small inventory of pool chemicals and advises supervisor of need to re-order to replenish stocks; performing a variety of semi-skilled building and equipment maintenance duties and minor repair work such as painting, plumbing and locker repairs and carpentry; and related work as required.

• Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by related technical training and sound janitorial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Pool Operator Level 1 and 2.
• Building Service Worker certificate.
• WHMIS certificate.
• Clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check required.
• Considerable knowledge of materials, methods and equipment used in janitorial and custodial work.
• Considerable knowledge of the operating procedures of water heating, filtration and chlorination equipment, and the methods and materials used in the operation of swimming pools, swirl pools and related recreational facilities.
• Working knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems applicable to the operation of the swimming pools and related recreational facilities.
• Working knowledge of materials, methods and equipment used in building maintenance work.
• Ability to operate, maintain and make minor repairs to equipment typically used in indoor swimming pools and fitness facilities.
• Ability to prepare and maintain records related to the work.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, patrons and user groups, and to deal tactfully and firmly with same in ensuring observance of pool policies and procedures.
• Skills in the use of and care of a variety of tools and equipment used in the work.
