Lighthouse Shellfish in Union Bay BC is looking for 2 clam diggers to be part of our growing team.

Job duties and responsibilities:
• Locate and extract clams from coastal areas, tidal flats, and other designated areas
• Utilize specialized tools and techniques to carefully extract clams while minimizing damage
• Sort, clean, and prepare the harvested clams for transportation
• Maintain detailed records of your daily catch and adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines
• Collaborate with the team to ensure efficient and sustainable operation
• Pick up any garbage found on the beach and never leave any of their own garbage

Qualification and Skills:
• Passion for working in the natural environment and a deep appreciation for marine ecosystems
• Strong physical stamina and the ability to withstand long hours of manual labour in varying weather conditions
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically in dynamic situations
• Familiarity with the local coastal geography and tidal patterns
• Work well with team members
• Ability to maintain proper employee conduct including being aware and respectful of the time of day, noise level, and the homeowners that surround the beaches.
