Our new təməsew̓txʷ Aquatic and Community Centre, which opened mid-May 2024, was planned to embody this vision and gained recognition as the first aquatic centre in Canada to achieve the Canadian Green Building Council Zero Carbon Building standard.
For 40 years, New Westminster aquatics has been a leader and innovator in building and providing effective swimming with our Breaking Waves Learn to Swim program. We are seeking enthusiastic, positive, and reliable lifeguards/instructors to join our team in our new facility.

AVAILABILITY COMITTMENT REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be available for a minimum of 1 regularly scheduled shift per 4 operational seasons within a 2 year period.
APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be 16+ years
• Has a demonstrated financial need as a barrier to participating in required certification courses.
• Looking for growth, learning, and skill development opportunities within the City of New Westminster.
• Must have a swimming ability of Swim for Life – Swimmer 9, Red Cross – Swim Kids 10, or Breaking Waves
School Age 11.
• Must be able to meet the swim test requirements from bronze Medallion (400 m in 12 minutes) and Bronze
Cross (400 m in 11 minutes)
• Must be able to pass and maintain a clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
