The Westerly Hotel is hiring a full-time Kitchen Helper

Location: 1590 Cliffe Avenue, Courtenay, BC V9N 2K4
Term: Full time, 40 hours/week, permanent, Shift, Overtime, Weekend, Day, Night, Evening
Salary: $18.00 per hour
Overtime rate: $27.00 per hour
Vacation: 10 vacation days / 4% of vacation pay
Language: English
Number of positions: 1
Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible

Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Clean and sanitize kitchen including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances and equipment
• Handle and store cleaning products
• Receive, unpack and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards and other storage areas
• Keep records of the quantities of food used
• Remove kitchen garbage and trash
• Sharpen kitchen knives
• Place dishes in storage area
• Sweep, mop, wash and polish floors
• Wash, peel and cut vegetables and fruit
• Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots and pans using dishwasher or by hand
• Place dishes in storage area
• Scour pots and pans, and may clean and polish silverware
Weight handling
• Up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs)
Job Requirements for the position are:
• High school diploma
• Food Safety Certificate
• 1-2 years of commercial kitchen helper experience is an asset
• Ability to work in a busy kitchen environment
