Job Duties & Suitability:

Load and unload goods, Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment, Perform brake adjustments, Perform emergency roadside repairs, Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle, Perform preventive maintenance, Receive and relay information to central dispatch, Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. The ideal candidate should show Professionalism in customer service, Be willing to travel for extended periods, Be willing to travel overnight, Show attention to detail, Is okay sitting for extended periods of time, Is able to handle up to 13.5 kg/30lbs, Has efficient interpersonal skills, has excellent oral & written communication, Shows good judgement, Is flexible in their work, Is organized, Is reliable, Is patient and is a team player. Documentation Knowledge; Accident or incident reports, Bill of lading, Driver logbook, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Maintenance and repair reports, Trip reports.

Type of trucking and equipment; Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles), Tractor-trailer, Drive manual transmission vehicle. Communication systems experience; Citizens band (CB) radio, Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment, Trip recorder (on-board computer).

Security and safety: Driver’s validity licence check, Driving record check (abstract).
