Looking for a change from a typical tax and accounting role?
Great Oak is seeking a highly knowledgeable, self-motivated and detail oriented full-time employee with an accounting, finance, or business valuation background who has a strong interest in accounting/forensic accounting and valuation to service our Litigation Support and Valuation division. Key Responsibilities
• Assist in litigation matters for the purpose of quantification of economic losses and preparation of Economic Loss reports for personal injury matters as per the Statutory Accident Benefit
Schedule under Ontario legislation and Rules of Civil Procedure
• Complete client interviews to determine eligibility of SABS benefits and the requirement of relevant documentation
• Analysis of financial documentation relevant to engagements for the preparation of reports and calculations
• Schedule financial data in an organised and succinct manner
• Ensure financial recording accuracy and compliance with established organisational standards procedures and internal controls
• Draft reports and manage deliverables
Required languages: English
Education level: • Candidates with CPA designation, or currently pursuing CPA are preferred • At least 3 years of work experience in forensic account, fraud examination, or auditing with thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles • Knowledge of Statutory Accident Benefit Schedule under Ontario legislation and Rules of Civil Procedure
Required skills: • Organised, enthusiastic, resourceful and dedicated to professional growth • Proven analytical skills and attention to detail in providing reports to clients and management • Excellent professional judgement and ability to problem solve including proficiency in analysing industry data and considering non loss-related factors impacting a business, in order to determine the loss due to the incident • Ability to understand businesses operating in different industries and the impact of loss events • Strong interpersonal skills, including communicating in person, e-mail and telephone • Well organised, able to prioritise numerous tasks, and work on multiple assignments simultaneously • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills • Proficient with Excel and Word • Ability and motivation to work independently with minimal supervision, to work efficiently and manage time appropriately • Ability to meet time deadlines
