Job Description

We here at Henry’s Gardening LTD are looking for a full-time employee to join our driven garden maintenance team as a garden maintenance laborer!
Specializing in strata and commercial garden maintenance on a 12 month basis, we provide our staff with consistent and steady work all year round.

Our hours of operation are Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:00pm with possibility of weekend work.
As an employer we are looking for the following attributes: attention to detail, reliability, team player, and able to interact with clientele in a helpful and polite manor

Our requirements are that you show up to work on time with a reliable means of transportation and that you be ready for the day in any weather conditions
Tasks:

Trim trees to achieve the desired pruning objective such as crown cleaning, thinning, raising, reduction, restoration, espalier pruning, vista pruning
Water and tend to plants, lawns and/or gardens
Apply fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, pesticides and other lawn care products
Apply various treatments such as pruning, spraying, repairing damaged areas and injecting with treatment solutions
Assess the health of lawns
Direct crews who maintain the health and appearance of golf courses and their surrounding landscapes
Examine trees and shrubs to diagnose problems and disease
Plan and co-ordinate the growth and use of plants for landscaping, ornamental uses and other purposes
Plant and maintain private and public lawns and gardens
Plant and move trees

We offer:

8 hour shift with 30 min unpaid lunch break and 2 paid 15 minute breaks one at 10am and the second at 2pm Monday to Friday.
Starting wage is 25/hr. Wage is reviewed every 6 months and adjusted as needed anywhere from $ 0.50 to $1.00 per year of employment.
Vacation pay percentage 4%
We are a family business and are not a part of a union.

Required:
2 years of experience
Areas of work experience: Garden Maintenance, power tool use and experience.

In addition;
Drivers license required
Experience using machinery such as lawn mower, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, leaf blower etc.
Entry level Plant ID & Plant Pruning Techniques would be considered an asset.

Required languages: English

Education level: Completion of secondary school

Required skills: Experience using machinery such as lawn mower, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, leaf blower etc.

Additional skills / Assets: Truck & Trailer Experience would be of great benefit when applying
