Position: Cook
Location: North York, Ontario
Number of Positions: 2
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation & Cooking: Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes, including meals for customers with food allergies or intolerances.
Menu Planning & Portion Control: Determine the size of food portions, plan menus, and estimate food requirements.
Food Inventory & Ordering: Requisition food and kitchen supplies, maintain inventory, and order supplies and equipment.
Kitchen Supervision: Supervise kitchen staff and helpers, train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food.
Quality Control: Inspect kitchens and food service areas for cleanliness and safety.
Specialized Meals: Prepare and cook special meals for patients as instructed by dietitians or chefs.
Buffets & Banquets: Organize buffets and banquets for large events.
Kitchen Operations: Manage kitchen operations, including overseeing cooking techniques and timing.
Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to recipes and quality standards
Ensure all food is prepared in a timely manner and meets health and safety guidelines
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
Collaborate with kitchen staff and management to create an efficient workflow
Assist in inventory management and ordering supplies as needed
Requirements:
Previous experience as a Cook in a restaurant or similar setting an asset
Strong knowledge of cooking techniques and food safety practices
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
Job Details:

Education: Completion of Secondary (High) School
Experience: 1 to less than 7 months (training will be provided)

Work Conditions:
Physical Demands: Fast-paced, physically demanding role with repetitive tasks. Standing for extended periods and working under pressure.
Overtime: Flexibility to work overtime as required.
