Job Description

SALARY: $145,987 – $160,838 annually (2024 rates)+ comprehensive benefits package
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Engineering Services, this position will provide professional engineering guidance and management to the Infrastructure Planning Section of the Engineering Department. Specifically, you will be responsible for leading the planning and administration of the City’s water, sewerage and solid waste utility works, environmental works, as well as the coordination and administration of all subdivision and new land development applications.
Requirements include:
• Completion of a degree in civil engineering, with considerable related experience in administrative management and land development. Registration as a professional engineer in BC is required. Additional training in public administration, utilities and development law is desired.
• Knowledge of the concepts, practices, and techniques of municipal engineering and administration as applied to public works infrastructure planning.
• Knowledge of municipal strategies, functions, and programs as well as the relevant legislation, policies, procedures, by-laws, regulations, and rules.
• Planning and coordination skills to coordinate the development, implementation, and delivery of a variety of engineering programs and services.
• Communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts such as Municipal contacts, other levels of government, business officials, and the public.
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills to determine the economic and engineering feasibility of projects and prioritize programs.
• People leadership skills to select, train, motivate, coach, direct, and evaluate a team of professional, technical, and support staff.
• Research and analytical skills to analyze data and prepare and evaluate engineering studies and designs.
• Valid BC driver’s license is an asset.
