SALARY: $39.29 to $41.78 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits and vacation

The City of New Westminster’s Art Services department is looking for passionate and experienced dance instructors to join our department to develop and lead sessional programs in our purpose-built dance studio at Anvil Centre.
Candidates require a strong background in dance and instruction, with experience in either ballet, hip hop, and/or jazz. The ability and interest to instruct more than one style is considered a strong asset along with some weekend availability. Applicants with current performing art practices (practicing and/or performing) are encouraged to apply.
Ideally, candidates will have experience teaching either children, youth and/or adults.
Please note this is an auxiliary position, and instruction hours are based on program registration.
Requirements include:
• Educational background in dance/performing arts either through continued professional development or through completion of accredited programs.
• Passionate about art education and sound previous instructing experience within a recreational and/or cultural studio setting.
• Positive and approachable demeanor.
• Responsible and punctual.
• Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
• Must be able to pass and maintain a clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) check.
*Please note that instruction hours of work are dependent on program registration and building scheduling (i.e. community rentals). The successful candidates will have the ability to work some weekdays, evenings and/or weekends.
