Job Description

Ascent Helicopters is a dynamic helicopter charter company in Parksville, BC with an 18-year history of international operations. We work across a variety of industries including aerial fire suppression, mining/resource exploration and search and rescue. We specialize in the aerial powerline/utility and Air Ambulance industries. Ascent has recently been awarded a 10-year contract with BCEHS to provide rotary wing Air Ambulance service to the entire province.

We are currently looking to hear from local candidates who are qualified to provide IT support to our staff as well as perform the day-to-day network administration duties. This will be an in-office position and will be based at our Head Office, located in Parksville. This role has the potential to grow into a larger, more complex role as the Company expands.

The ideal candidate will have a strong IT foundation, an outgoing personality, and the ability and desire to help support employees with varying levels of knowledge and interest in technology.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

· Provide tier 1 technical support to staff throughout the organization via phone, email, and in person.
· Provide support and administration for cloud applications, including Office 365, Exchange Online, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
· Partake in the management and troubleshooting of network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
· Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, software applications, and peripheral devices.
· Document and update technical procedures, troubleshooting steps, and knowledge base articles.
· Review and maintain antivirus, security and backup logs and maintain on-prem and cloud data backup systems.
· Collaborate with colleagues in the planning and execution of IT projects, including system upgrades and rollouts.
· Empower co-worker knowledge through training on technology best use practices and cyber security awareness.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

· IT Program Certificate or proven experience working as an IT support tech/network administrator.
· Strong understanding of computer systems, networking, and IT infrastructure.
· CompTIA Certifications: A+, Network +, Security +.
· Microsoft 365 certifications an asset, specifically Azure, Power BI, Teams, SharePoint
· Familiarity with: Cisco Meraki, Hyper-V, VMWare, Veeam, Teams, Adobe Acrobat, Zendesk, Atera, Windows Server, Active Directory.
· Desire to learn and improve knowledge of different technologies.

There will be a physical component to the position as the IT Support Technician will be expected to walk throughout the facility (including up and down stairs) to resolve user-reported issues, set up workstations, provide assistance, and training, etc. There will also be some carrying and lifting of standard IT supplies and equipment, generally weighing up to 30 lbs.

Wage will be dependent on experience.
