Job Summary:
As the General Manager of Smith’s Bar and Restaurant, a renowned Irish pub in Vancouver’s historic Gastown district, you will be at the helm of a vibrant, high-profile establishment, overseeing its operations, team, and unique events. This role requires a dynamic leader with a deep understanding of Irish culture, exceptional management skills, and a passion for creating unforgettable guest experiences in a traditional Irish bar setting.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
– Develop and execute innovative strategies to enhance revenue generation and profitability, aligning with the traditional Irish theme and ambiance of Smith’s Bar and Restaurant.
– Oversee the management of the Forge, the private venue space, ensuring exceptional service for high-profile guests, athletes, and celebrities.
– Implement and refine operational procedures specific to an authentic Irish bar and pub environment, ensuring consistency with the establishment’s unique character.
– Lead and mentor the staff, fostering a team-oriented atmosphere, with a focus on maintaining the authenticity of an Irish Bar experience.
– Plan and coordinate special events and banquets, including liaising with clients to discuss event specifics, menu options, and logistical arrangements.
– Maintain rigorous standards of health and safety, adhering to both local regulations and the specific needs of a busy restaurant and bar environment.
– Cultivate a guest-centric approach among the team, emphasizing the importance of creating memorable experiences for each guest.
– Conduct regular performance evaluations, providing constructive feedback and identifying opportunities for staff development and training in line with the latest industry trends.
– Manage staff scheduling, ensuring optimal staffing levels to deliver consistent, high-quality service.
– Negotiate and manage arrangements with suppliers, ensuring a steady supply of high-quality ingredients and other necessities, in line with the establishment’s Irish theme.
– Actively participate in and contribute to sustainability initiatives, aligning with both the ethos of Smith’s Bar and Restaurant and broader environmental responsibilities.
– Oversee financial operations, including invoice accuracy, cash handling, and tip pool reconciliation, ensuring transparency and efficiency in all financial transactions.

Wage/Salary: $60,000/annum
Benefits: Extended Health Benefits after 90 days, 6% Vacation Pay, Share of Gratuities Received
Hours Per Week: 40 hours per week

Skills Requirements
Education: No Minimum Education Requirement
Work Experience: Must have at least 3 years of general management experience in a restaurant and bar setting.
Skills/Licensing:
– Demonstrated and verifiable work experience leading and mentoring a team in a hospitality setting. Experience in staff training, performance evaluation, and team development is required.
– Demonstrated competence in managing financial operations, including budgeting, invoicing, cash handling, and financial reporting.
– Demonstrated and verifiable work experience in negotiating with and managing suppliers
– Demonstrated competence with restaurant management software, financial reporting tools, and basic computer applications.
– Demonstrated knowledge of health and safety regulations pertinent to the food and beverage industry.
– Demonstrated and verifiable work experience in planning and executing events within a restaurant or bar setting.
