Department Summary

The Maximus Canada Finance team is compiled of skilled professionals who support the operational function and strategic objectives of our organization through sound financial management.  Our key responsibilities include full cycle accounting for multiple entities, payroll, forecasting, reporting and analysis, treasury, audit and tax.

Position Summary

The Senior Accounting Technician works closely with the operation teams to ensure accurate and timely client billing/ collections and maintains positive relationships with the clients. This is a national role.

Your typical week at Maximus

Liaise with Operations to gather necessary information for invoicing
Contract review to ensure accurate billing
Process client invoices and payments
Maintain accurate accounts receivable records
Support month end processes by gathering necessary information for accruals
Prepare intercompany billing
Monitor accounts receivable aging report and liaise with clients to ensure timely collections of payments
Maintain deferred revenue schedule
Bank accounts reconciliation
Reconciliation of accounts receivable balance sheet accounts
GST/ HST remittance preparation
Assist with annual audits
Ad-hoc reporting as required
Perform continuous assessment of the accounts receivable process to optimize efficiencies
Provide back up for Accounts Payable role as required (vacation backfill)
Support other Finance team members

Education and Experience

5-7 years in the accounts receivable or an equivalent position
Accounting/ Business Degree or Diploma
Sage 300 experience is an asset
