Employment requirements:
• College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
• Current experience will be an asset.
• On-the-job training is provided.
• Ability to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
• Work with management to decide on daily tasks to be performed and then supervise operations of the farm including seeding, harvesting and maintenance.
• Ensure that employees follow food safety, farm safety standards and policy and procedures.
• Inventory supplies, parts, tools, supplies etc and forward to office for purchasing and replenishing
• be able to operate all equipment on the farm (inc. tractors, sprayers, mowers, loaders, cultivator, and tools such as chainsaws, hedge trimmer etc.)
• supervises and trains summer students and seasonal employees in safely using equipment and assists in food safety training.
• inspects crops and fields to determine maturity or work requirements. Either supervises activities that result in this inspection or completes the work. These would include activities such as cultivating, spraying, weeding, fertilizing.
• ensures employees follow farm policies and procedures to minimize environmental impact.
• supervises the installation and operation of irrigation equipment.
• supervises and performs maintenance of equipment and property throughout the year.
• performs other general farm duties as required.
