Job duties
– Conduct studies in support of research and quality control in the cosmetic and natural health product production field
– Set up and conduct chemical experiments, tests and analyses using techniques such as microscopy, spectrometry, and physical and chemical separation techniques
– Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, while preparing solutions, reagents and chemical formulations for chemical experiments
– Compile records and interpret experimental or analytical results
– Assist in developing and conducting programs of sampling and analysis to maintain quality standards of raw materials, chemical intermediates and final products
– Responsible for the environmental monitoring of the Canmore Workshop site which includes testing of the air and water quality, as well as the development of and compliance with standards
– Conduct daily quality control testing for the chemical and microbiological testing of final products and raw materials. Analyze the results and prepare reports.
– Collect, receive, label and analyze samples or substances for testing
– Design and execute laboratory testing in line with standard testing procedures, recording observation and interpreting findings
– Record all experimental data and results accurately in the specified format (written and/or electric)
– Assist in the development of processes, Standard Operating Procedures, health and safety measures and quality standards
– Assist with the organization an storage of chemical substances, including fluids and compressed gasses, to ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety requirements
– Assist with the research and development of new cosmetic products
– Maintain sample library as well as retain sample management
Skills requirements
– Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field
– Minimum 3 years’ of experience working in a similar role
– Experience within a Cosmetic GMP environment
– Familiarity with quality management systems and regulatory requirements (Health Canada, GMP, etc.)
– Demonstration of core values in work and interactions with others
– Must foster and promote a Product Safe Environment
– Excellent oral & written communication skills combined with strong organizational skills
– Flexible; ability to work well under pressure and with tight deadlines
