Job Description
SUMMARY
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications Coordinator provides communications support to Kickstand’s Provincial Implementation Team and associated initiatives. This individual helps create promotional materials, contributes to the development and ongoing maintenance of Kickstand’s website, including regular maintenance of a/our virtual clinic webpage, organizes meetings and presentations, and interacts with outside parties to effectively deliver Kickstand’s message to the public and the media. The Communications Coordinator implements and oversees multiple communications strategies, such as public relations and marketing campaigns. They are in charge of increasing Kickstand’s visibility by managing the brand image and the design of marketing materials. They possess superb written and verbal communication skills and have in-depth knowledge of marketing trends.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Managing Kickstand’s social media platforms including developing and maintaining a monthly social media calendar, and the daily scheduling, execution, listening, monitoring of, engagement on, and evaluation of accounts (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube). Leading the implementation of emerging social media opportunities.
Providing tactical communications support including but not limited to developing assets for social media and marketing campaigns, writing content, creating in-house and agency-supported videos, and managing streamed social media events.
Act as a webmaster for Kickstand’s external website, responding to web requests and regularly updating and auditing content.
Support the planning and implementation of communications strategies to achieve the Society’s goals.
Monitor, evaluate and report regularly on digital outcomes. In cooperation with the Senior Communications Lead, analyze the results of communications campaigns and explore and develop strategies to determine how to improve them.
With support, establish strategic partnerships with influencers and contacts at press outlets and magazines to grow Kickstand’s brand.
Works with Kickstand centres to support communications and brand activities, including onboarding with communication tools and templates, formatting promotional tools, and supporting web page development and maintenance.
Work with external vendors as needed to implement a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy to support Kickstand’s programs, centres, and partners.
Serve as a point of contact for media/public inquiries and assist with public messaging and media materials, including media releases, events and appearances, proactive media strategies and key messages.
Maintaining and championing visual identity standards, brand management, and targeted communications strategies. Create and work with brand templates, such as letterhead, PowerPoint presentations, poster templates, forms, as well as any policies, guidelines and standards related to these products.
Build and nurture strong relationships with Kickstand Provincial Implementation Team staff, Kickstand Connect staff, Kickstand centre staff, and stakeholders across the organization.
Lead engagement sessions related to communications and marketing with young people, families/caregivers, and staff.
Assist/coordinate other projects, special events, and activities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, English, Public Relations, Journalism, Graphic Design, UI/UX Design, or a related field. Diploma in relevant subject may be supplemented with equivalent experience working in a similar role.
A minimum of three years’ experience in the areas of communications, marketing or public relations.
Experience working in mental health, non-profit, health care or related fields is an asset.
Skills and Abilities
Proven knowledge of marketing, marketing techniques, and communications best practices and ethics.
Remain up to date on industry trends to ensure all strategies and practices are current.
Exceptional organizational and time management skills that ensure adherence to strict deadlines.
Excellent verbal and written communication and editing skills.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
Ability to think critically and have an analytical approach with the ability to tell the data’s story.
Capability of working independently and as a team member.
Effective public speaker with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and connect with diverse audiences.
Advanced skills in MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Skilled in content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Elementor) and newsletter and marketing platforms (e.g., MailChimp).
Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suites (e.g., Canva, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Dreamweaver) and social media platforms for professional environments (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn).
Experience with Google Analytics is an asset.
Photography and video editing skills are an asset.

Additional Information about the Role
Compensation will depend on experience and fit for the position. The pay range is $50,000 to $60,000 annually.
This is a hybrid position with some required in-person meetings and flexibility to work from home.
