HR Assistant – Summer Camps
Term- Contract, January 2024 until September 30, 2024

Working with the Manger, Recreational Camps, the Human Resources Assistant will support the Human Resources function and Recreational Camp team by working directly with Camp Directors and the HR team on Recruitment, Selection, onboarding and offboarding of a large group of Summer Camp staff. The Human Resources Assistant will facilitate an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes the values of Scouts Canada and facilitates the achievement of the business plan and high-levels of employee engagement.
This role will be remote from your home office, and the candidate can be located anywhere in Canada.
Responsibilities:
• Work in partnership with Properties staff, Camp Directors, and the Human Resources Team
• Facilitate and support end-to-end recruitment activities with a strong focus on people, processes, and continuous improvement.
• Create and maintain accurate, up-to-date, and complete employee records, and ensure confidentiality with all records.
• Supports organizational policies, programs and training in order to meet legislative requirements or emerging business needs.
• Provides data metrics and other information as required to support the completion of grant application funding.
• Prepare, review, and/or edit various forms of correspondence such as letters, employment offers, and reports
• Support with the creation of job descriptions, job postings, resume screening, and interviewing.
• Prepare materials for new employee orientation sessions, staff development, and other employee communications, as assigned.
• Create, manage and maintain Summer Camp employee training and records on MyScouts and HRdownloads.
• Conduct follow-up with managers to determine the effectiveness of recruiting plans and implementation.
• Accurately review Employment Contracts, Letters and New Hire Files in a fast-paced environment
• Assist with reporting any H&S incidents
• Other duties as required.

• High level of attention to detail well developed influencing, negotiating and coaching skills and strong communication skills.
• Solid project management skills and ability to coordinate, plan and schedule multiple projects and budgets at the same time.
• Strong presentation skills, strong analytical skills, ability to work independently and with all levels throughout the organization.
• Ability to analyze data.
• Ability to manage organizational change.
• Highly motivated and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities, while remaining focused in order to meet targeted deadlines.
• Excellent Computer/Technical Skills
Working Conditions:
• Home Office environment.
• Maintains regular office hours with some flexibility during peak demand periods.
• PRC (Police Record Check) and VSS (Vulnerable Sector Check) are required before the start date.
• Mandatory training requirement.
• This is a term-contract role from January to September 30, 2024. The hours will be flexible in nature and we welcome students to apply, we can be flexible around a class schedule during the school year and offer full-time hours during the summer months.
